Understanding Hearing Loss
Hearing loss can affect anyone, regardless of age. It can be caused by a variety of factors including genetics, exposure to loud noises, and age-related changes. Understanding the types of hearing loss is crucial for effective management and treatment.
Types of Hearing Loss
There are three main types of hearing loss: conductive, sensorineural, and mixed. Conductive hearing loss occurs when sound waves cannot efficiently travel through the outer ear canal to the eardrum and the tiny bones of the middle ear. Sensorineural hearing loss is caused by damage to the inner ear or the auditory nerve. Mixed hearing loss is a combination of both types.
Early detection and intervention can significantly improve quality of life.
